Hello, Happy Valentines Day! Welcome back! or if you are a new reader, hello and welcome to Makeup with Mich. I have been working on putting all my favorite products together because well, why not. These are products I have been using for years so they have definitely been put to the test and they all officially have my stamp of approval!
Last time we talked all about my favorite liquid products like foundation, concealer that type of stuff. ( check it out if you haven’t already!) but today we are going to be talking all about my favorite powders, which I am very excited about. This like my last post will probably be a long one so grab some popcorn and a drink and let’s jump right into it!
Face Powders: Maybelline Matte & Poreless; $5.99
This section is kinda hard for me to pick a favorite for because while i’ve liked all the powders that I have tried I honestly haven’t found one that blows me away & changes the game for me. With that being said the powder I have gone back to the most is the Maybelline Fit Me matte and poreless powder. I’ve gone through many of both the original and the matte powder but I prefer the matte because it comes in translucent. If you didn’t know from my last post I am VERY fair so I don’t want my powder adding any extra color I just want it to set my liquids which this one does beautifully. I don’t find that it makes me look to dry, because again if you didn’t know from my last post I have dry skin so I have to be careful with matte products. This powder however doesn’t exaggerate my dry spots.
Bronzer: Anastasia Contour Kit $40.00 Refills $14.00; Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer $30.00
In this section i’m gonna talk about my contour powder and the bronzer that I use because I usually do both. So first for contour I use the Anastasia contour kit. I got this a few years back when it was the hot product on youtube & honestly I still really like it. One thing I really like is if you don’t want to buy the whole palette or you run out of your favorite shade they have refill pans that you can purchase and either pop in a Z palette or pop into your existing palette. Contouring and bronzing can sometimes be scary because you don’t want it to look like you have just a brown strip on your face, which can happen if the product doesn’t blend well. Have no fear though the color Fawn from the Anastasia kit blends out very well and gives you just the perfect shadow under your cheekbone and jawline. Now to bronzer, oh how I LOVE bronzer. My favorite one is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I use this one almost everyday and I have noticed I’ve liked my makeup more on the days that I wear this bronzer. It’s a matte bronzer so on the days where I don’t feel like contouring it still gives my face a little definition. The only negative thing I have to say is that I can look a little to dark on me but thats 100% my fault because I just keep piling it on and probably don’t have the right shade. With that being said, if you do go a little to heavy handed like I tend to do if you take a stippling brush or your regular powder brush you will be able to blend it out nicely and it won’t look as dark. One final bonus about this product is that it smells like chocolate not that I’m advising you to eat your bronzer but it does have coco powder infused in it which is a nice added touch!
Blush: Mac Melba; $23.00
I’m gonna get real honest with you guys and tell you that this is the hardest section for me because I have SO many blushes that I really love, so what I’m gonna do is tell you my top favorite and then just generalize my other favorites. Okay so my all time above all else favorite blush ever is Mac Melba. This is the only blush by Mac i have and honestly I think I would be okay not getting anymore because I love this one so much, okay so this is kinda a lie because i’m addicted to makeup but you get my point! It’s a matte nudish peachy pink ( yes i know i just used 3 colors to describe ONE color) there is just something about this blush that is honestly so perfect. It looks good in every season with every makeup look. If i don’t know what blush to use or don’t feel like thinking about what color to wear I go for this blush. I’ve had this blush for at least a year probably more and i’ve used it hundreds of times and it still looks brand new. This is a blush that you will honestly have to pry from my cold dead hands. LOL! Now that I am done talking about my deeply committed relationship with Mac Melba let me give you guys some other good choices. For me personally I really like to wear peachy/ orange colors because I feel that it compliments my eyes and makes my skin tone look very fresh. These are a few of the blushes that I keep on heavy rotation
- Too Face Love Flush( $26.00) : I will always love you
- Nars ($30.00): Orgasm
- Milani ($9.99) Luminoso
What I really like about all of these are the undertones, some are more pink some are more orange and some are more peach but each of them have such a beautiful shine to them and look gorgeous on the skin.
Highlighters: Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop; $38.00
AHHHH! We have finally made it to my favorite category…..highlighters *the heavens open and you hear angels sing* I could go on & on about highlighters, and honestly I do when it comes to putting it on my face. If I haven’t been sitting there for 10 minutes I probably don’t have enough on. While I have a lot of highlighters that make my heart skip a beat, my one TRUE love is champagne pop by the living legend herself Jaclyn Hill. ( If you don’t know who she is I need you to crawl out from the rock you’ve been living under & as jaclyn would say GET IT TOGETHER! ) Anyways, Jaclyn is a beauty youtuber who did a collaboration with the brand Becca cosmetics and created a Shimmering Skin perfector called Champagne Pop. This product was meant to be limited edition but my prayers were answered and it is now apart of the permanent line. Now bare with my while I try to describe the color of this product because it’s not just one color, it’s kinda peachy but also kinda gold but also kind of champagne & it is STUNNING. Being as fair as I am it can sometimes be hard to find a highlighter that does just look like a line of color on the top of your cheek bones, especially when it comes to gold. Gold highlighters are very much on trend but when your fair it’s really challenging to find one that isn’t to yellow, until champagne pop. This product is so beautiful and sits so nicely on the skin, it just melts into the skin but it still REALLY packs a punch which I personally LOVE. I want you to be able to see my highlight from outer space. I have hit pan on THREE of these already because I use it that much. Sometimes I’ll decide to wear a different highlighter but 8 out of 10 times I will add at least a little bit of Champagne Pop. My favorite part about this product though is the fact that it was made by Jaclyn. I have been following her for a few years now and she has inspired me a lot. She helped me discover my true passion for makeup which has lead to me deciding that I want makeup to be my career and I want to have my own makeup line one day. I owe a lot to her and she holds a very special place in my heart so supporting her with this product just makes it that much sweeter for me.
We have finally come to the end, those are all my favorite powder products. I hope you found this helpful and/or entertaining in some way. Leave me a comment if you’ve tried any of these or tell me what some of your favorite powder products are, I would love to find some new things to try out! Next time we are going to be talking all about my favorite eyeshadow palettes so be sure to come back because it will be a lot of fun! Hopefully there won’t be as much of a gap in-between my next posting. I hope you all have an amazing rest of your day or night. I am off to make valentines day cookies YUM! Until next time…
Be Nice. Be Good.
