Current Hair Care Routine

Hello! Welcome Back, I hope you all are having a good week so far! Today I am going to talk about my current hair care routine. Before we jump in let me give you a little background on my hair, I have medium/long hair, my hair is fine and it has a slight natural wave to it. As i’ve mentioned in past blog posts I have recently got my hair re-balayaged, which means my ends are lighter then my roots. I also flat iron my hair almost everyday so I do need to take good care of my hair to prevent damage. I’ve also mentioned in past posts that I work in a beauty store so I am always trying free samples of different hair products but these are the ones a use on a regular basis, lets get started!

Shampoo & Conditioning

I only wash my hair about two/three times a week so I always make sure to clean my hair really well when I do wash it. The first shampoo that I always use is Shimmer Lights, which is a purple shampoo that I use to tone my blonde hair. I mentioned this product in my September Favorites, I really recommend this shampoo if you have blonde or silver hair because it takes the brassy/yellow tones out of your hair. If you wash your hair everyday I recommend only using this shampoo about twice a week because the purple pigment is very strong and you may turn your hair a light purple if you use it everyday, but since I only wash my hair at most three times a week I use it every time I wash my hair.

These next two sets of shampoo & conditioner are ones that I rotate between on a regular basis. They are both great it all just depends on what “mood” I’m in. The first one is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo and Conditioner. I really like this shampoo & conditioner because I sometimes have an itchy scalp (not dandruff just simply an itchy scalp) and this line really helps soothe my scalp, it has a very minty scent and feel which makes my hair feel extremely clean. If you are trying to grow your hair out I recommend this shampoo & conditioner because the tea tree oil helps create a healthy environment for your hair to grow by unclogging your hair follicles. The other set of shampoo & conditioner that I use are Wella Enrich for Fine hair. The shampoo is a volumizing shampoo while the conditioner is moisturizing. I really like that this shampoo is formulated for my hair type and I do feel that it adds volume to my hair while not stripping any moisture from my hair.

As of recently I have been doing hair masks to ensure my hair stays healthy after putting it through all that bleach from the balayage and heat from styling. The one that I really have been enjoying is the It’s a 10 miracle hair mask. This is a new addition to my hair care routine so I’ve only used it about three times but I do genuinely see a difference in my hair from using this mask.

After I wash my hair, I dry and style my hair..this is where I have to be sure to really protect my hair because I am using a lot of heat on my hair which as you know, is damaging. After I towel dry my hair I use the Garner Fructose Color Illuminating Marvelous Oil, I have had this oil for a really long time and I have barely made a dent in it because I only need to use two small pumps. Since I’ve had it for so long I’m not sure if you can get it anymore but this oil helps keep my color bright and helps my hair dry a lot quicker.

Blow-drying my hair use to be a nightmare, with my hair being thin and blonde it would retain the water like a sponge but it would also get tangled easily, but with these products I actually look forward to blow-drying my hair. I use a hair dryer from Revlon and the Wet Brush Epic Professional Quick Dry Brush. Like many people do I have a hard time blow drying my hair out straight the way they do at the hair salon but this brush has totally eliminated that problem. Not only does this brush help blow my hair out straight it also shortens that time I spend on drying my hair, I have also noticed that I am losing less hair because the bristles are gentle and don’t get caught or tear out my hair.

Once my hair is dry I straighten it with my Chi flat iron, I’ve had this flat iron for over two years and use it almost everyday so I really recommend investing in a Chi. It use to take a while to straighten my hair because it would be very frizzy, poofy, and wavy and sometimes I could tell there was still water locked in my hair but since using the Wet Brush I only spend about 15 minutes flat ironing my hair. After i’m done I finish off my hair with a little bit of Sebastian Dark Oil, to seal down any fly aways.

Not long ago I was very unhappy with my hair but freshening up my hair color and using this routine I have become very happy with my hair and how it looks, it feels/look healthy and I’m confident in how my hair is currently. I really hope you found this helpful. Please let me know your favorite hair product as I am always looking to trying new products to make my hair even better. Until next time…
