March Favorites

Hello! Welcome Back! I hope you’re having a great day! I know I’m a little late in the month for today’s post but, I wanted to talk about my March favorites! I felt like I hadn’t done a post incorporating beauty in a while and I really do love all things beauty. I also love knowing what everyone else loved throughout the month so I figured why not right? I didn’t try a whole lot of new things in March but the ones that I did, I have fallen in love with! It’s going to be mainly beauty products with a few random favorite’s thrown in so let’s get started!

I’m going to start with my skincare, I am pretty lucky when it comes to my skin and I usually have clear skin. That wasn’t the case in March, I had a lot of little breakouts on both sides of my forehead almost near my temple. I couldn’t figure out what was causing them because I hadn’t really changed anything in my diet or my routine. I thought maybe it was a shampoo I used but, they stayed around even after I stopped using it. I tried a lot of different things. I did more face masks, washed my face like four times a day, put on different creams and serums at night, ANYTHING to help clear it up. Since acne wasn’t something I’ve ever had a problem with, it was making me really self conscious and upset. None the less, my acne did start clearing up and I truly believe it was solely because of this product. I remembered I had a 100 point perk sample of Sunday Riley’s Good Genes from Sephora. It’s a lactic acid treatment which helps exfoliate dead skin cells that are clogging your pores. One way I could tell it was actually working is the fact that it stung when I put it on my trouble areas. It wasn’t like a, “this product is irritating my skin type of sting” but, it was just enough for me to know it was resurfacing my skin, which is what I needed. I’m not gonna tell you to run out and buy this because it’s expensive, really expensive. I can’t even afford it, one bottle is the same price as my monthly student loan payment so you won’t see me purchasing the full size any time soon. However if you do have money to spend or you really just want to treat yourself because you saved up, I think this is a great product. It’s a heavy duty product so you’ll only need this and moisturizer.

Taking my makeup off every night is very important to me, it’s part of why I think i’ve been so lucky to have clear skin. However, I have sensitive eyes and they become irritated and bloodshot really easily. I also tend to wear a good amount of eye makeup, so I’m picky about my makeup remover. I want something that’s going to quickly take ALL my makeup off without burning my eyes or leaving behind any greasy residue. I picked up these Bliss melt off makeup wipes for $5.99 from Target because I was low on makeup remover and tight on cash. Plus I had heard good things about bliss. WOW, am I glad I picked them up! They take off all my makeup, don’t leave any kind of residue whatsoever and the best part, they don’t irritate my eyes in the slightest! It feels like I’m just rubbing my eyes with water but, affectively taking off my makeup. If you are able to get your hands on Bliss products I really recommend trying these out. I’m actually testing out a few other products from the brand now since I enjoyed these so much! (Let me know if you want me to keep you updated on how the other products work out for me in the comments!)

Skincare Fav-4

I didn’t really try that much in makeup this month. Well for my standards, other people would probably call this a lot but what can I say, I love beauty products! I might as well set up camp and start paying rent at Ulta seeing as I’m always there and is where I got all my makeup favorites for this month. If you don’t know Ulta is a beauty store in America that carries affordable and high end makeup, skincare and haircare. Maybelline recently came out with a new line called Total Temptation, which included a mascara, brow pencil and I believe an eyeshadow palette. I got the mascara and brow pencil mainly because of the packaging but, lucky for me they turned out to be amazing products! The mascara kind of reminds me of Too Faced Better than Sex and L’oreal Lash Paradise. They all have similar wands and formula’s which provide fantastic volume! I’m high maintenance about my eyelashes and use two mascara’s since I have crappy lashes but honestly I’m sure I could get away with just using this mascara and be happy with my results! If you are looking for a mascara to give nice fluffy lashes, try this one out!

The brow pencil however was not an instant favorite, it had a learning curve. I’m use to using the thin pointed brow pencils like the brow wiz from ABH or Brow Stylist from L’oreal. This product however had that newer design for brow products where it’s more angled and thicker. Once I figured out how to properly use it, I was hooked. It’s great for quick brow application, which I really enjoy. If you have thinner eyebrows I probably wouldn’t recommend this product but if you have medium to thick brows this would be a great product for you to try!

Ulta has finally answered our prayers and now sells ColourPop in store, well select stores! Surprisingly my local Ulta made the cut so I knew I HAD to check it out. I’ve ordered from ColourPop once for the Kathleen Lights Where the Light is quad from way back in the day. I really enjoyed that quad but was really excited to try their pressed shadows since I’ve heard nothing was great reviews on them. I decided to pick up the Double Entendre palette because I knew i’d get good use of it seeing as how it was your typical warm neutral everyday palette. I am so glad I got this, the pigment is insane and these shades blend effortlessly. When i’m being SUPER lazy with my makeup, I’ll just lightly dip into one of the browns and run it through my crease. It takes no time at all but gives just enough definition to the outer corner. (honestly if i’m being even lazier then that I’ll do the same technique but i’ll use whatever was left on my brush from the day before for a really light definition) If you’ve been curious about Colourpop pressed shadows or you’re in the market for a new everyday palette but don’t wanna break the bank, I really recommend you checking this palette out!

My last makeup favorite is kind of a cheat since I got it really close to the end of March but sometimes you just instantly know when something is a winner. I was out in Exton, PA visiting my best friend/old college roommate, I knew I wanted to go to Ulta because I needed more Morphe M433 blending brushes but my local Ulta doesn’t carry Morphe. I got my brushes and was just looking around because this Ulta seems to get all the good brands in stores and I rarely get to come to it. As i’m looking around I find that they carry Flower Beauty, which if you don’t know is Drew Barrymore’s brand. I decided to pick up the Flawless full coverage concealer after I had heard good reviews from Beauty Influencers on Youtube. Oh wow. OH WOW! Before I tried this product Tarte Shapetape was my favorite concealer but honestly I think this one beats it! It has a creamier formula then Shapetape but, still provides the same amount of coverage and looks more hydrating under the eyes. Actually this past week I have just been putting this concealer under my eyes, in between my eyebrows and on my chin with no other type of liquid base product. It looked great, you honestly couldn’t even tell that I wasn’t wearing foundation which was so exciting for when I want light makeup days! Really recommend this product!

I love watching TV, I know that’s probably not the best way to spend my time but I love getting wrapped up in a storyline and emotionally attached to the characters. In March the show that really held my attention is the Hulu Original The Handmaid’s Tale. Oh My God! This show deserved every award it got this season. It’s such a dark twisty show that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It comes back towards the end of April and I honestly can’t wait! I watched other shows during the month but Handmaid’s Tail was the stand out, I wanted to rewatch it as soon as I finished the season!

It’s really no secret that I love food, and majority of that food is unhealthy. (I’m trying to get a little better at that, I promise.) One of my favorite things though is enjoying a bagel on a Saturday morning. I think it’s a really nice way to start the weekend and is kind of a tradition in my household. Recently, a new local bagel shop came into town and is only about 3 minutes from our house. I work for a small business so if I can, I like to support other small businesses as well. Thank God I did because the sesame seed bagel I got from them was the best one I have ever gotten and now I’m officially hooked. Whether it’s just toasted with butter or a full breakfast sandwich, everything I’ve tried from them is amazing! If you are anywhere near the suburbs of Philadelphia, check out Yardley Bagel. You really won’t regret it!

Lastly, my final favorite of the month is myself. That probably sounds weird and conceded so let me explain. If you’ve read any of my other posts you may know I have struggled with mental health issues for a good while now, but I finally had enough and went to seek help from my doctor towards the end of February. Finding the right course of treatment is extremely personal and unique for everyone but the path I’m on right now is working great. It’s been a really long time since I’ve felt as happy and motivated as I have this past month. Reaching out for help from a medical professional has helped me get past my point of plateau and start really living for my happiness. I’m no stranger to bad days or indifferent days however good happy days, those use to be kinda hard to come by, but in March the goods days finally started to become more familiar. That’s the greatest “favorite” I could ever ask for. (If you a struggling with mental health, I encourage you to seek help. I know it’s really scary but you deserve to live happily.)

That wraps up everything I’ve been loving last month, leave me a comment of your favorite thing from March! Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed! Until next time….
