Hello! Welcome Back! Is it just me or as you get older, you become more interested in figuring out what makes you the way the you are? Why do we act the ways we do, or why do we have the flaws that we do? Is it strictly because of the alignment of the stars or a combination of things? Does being born prematurely affect it? Most of you know I just had a birthday a few weeks ago, meaning I am a Virgo and, considering it is Virgo season I thought I’d do some research on my zodiac sign and see if I really match up with the traits of a Virgo.
Basic Virgo Information
Sign: The Virgin ♍️
Dates: August 23 – September 22 (I was born on August 30)
I think astrology is fascinating and while I am religious, you can check out my faith journey here I do think that both God and the Universe can work together in making a person who they are. I did some research on the traits of a Virgo and more specifically a Virgo Woman. First, I want to take a look at the strengths.
Strengths ( Loyal, Analytical, Kind, Hardworking, Practical)
I believe I’m extremely loyal, so much so that the other day my mom actually called me the human version of our family dog, who is a golden retriever Once you’re in my life, I will rarely turn my back on you, this is partially because I hate to let people down. Even if I cut you out of my life or we naturally drift apart every part of my heart will still be wishing you the most happiness possible. I don’t give up on people, and at the expense of sounding cocky I am an incredible person to have as a friend. One of the most important things to me is making sure my friends never have to question if I’ll be there for them. I wouldn’t however say that I am analytical or practical, 7 out of 10 times my head is in the clouds. I’m a dreamer, I don’t want to settle for anything other than my dream which sometimes isn’t practical. Like owning a Range Rover when I’ve only ever worked in retail, not practical but I’ll find some way to make it happen. I’m definitely kind, even if someone is mean to me I get very uncomfortable making someone else feel bad. If I’m invested in something I believe in and am passionate about I’ll be very hardworking. Take my blog for example, I believe in my blog and I’m passionate about it so I work my butt off to put out content that I’m proud of. 3/5 strengths match.
Weaknesses (Shyness, worry, overly critical of self and others, all work no play)
Uh, Hi… my name is Michelle and I’m constantly worrying and being too hard on myself which causes me to come off as really closed off and shy…nice to meet you. If you couldn’t tell, I match up with the weaknesses of a Virgo very well. *cue being overly critical about the fact that I match more weaknesses than strengths * The one weakness I don’t match up with is all work no play. I believe it’s really important to have a good work to social life balance. The first year that I was home from college after graduating, I worked the entire weekend but had some weekdays off. That was very hard for me to cope with because, I was never able to have “play” time with my friends, I am very shy until you get to know me but once you crack my shell (no pun intended) I’m constantly cracking jokes, the biggest factor for me to break out of my shyness is I need to feel comfortable and accepted. If I feel that, God help you for the weirdo you’re going to encounter. 3/4 weaknesses match.
Likes (Animals, Health food, books, nature, cleanliness)
I just have to laugh at the health food part simply because if you know me, you know if it’s green I don’t eat it. No disrespect to people who do eat healthy though. Honestly I’m jealous of people who enjoy healthy foods because I need to do something about this belly of mine. I just can’t ever seem to pass up the holiday themed Oreos! So no, health food is not something I like. I do however love animals, especially dogs. If I’m being honest, I don’t trust people who hate dogs. I also love books and nature. I think books are a great way to escape the everyday struggles of ones personal life. You get to transport into a totally different world and forget about everything that’s going on for a little while. My dad, who is also a Virgo would tell you that I am a pig so I guess technically you could say I’m messy. However, when the day comes to an end I have to clean up my room so I don’t wake up to mess. I have all white furniture in my bedroom, so I have a massive clean about once a week where I scrub down all the white furniture and it’s so relaxing for me. Overall, I do enjoy cleanliness but it’s more important in my personal spaces than in shared spaces. 3/4 likes match.
Dislikes (Rudeness, asking for help, taking center stage)
Uh ding ding ding WE HAVE A WINNER! I dislike all three of these things. However, I feel like most people dislike rudeness. I’ve never actually met someone who enjoys people being rude to them so I’m not sure how distinctive that is for my zodiac sign. Asking for help is so incredibly hard for me. When I was in school my mom would actually get really mad at me for how challenging I found asking for help was. I would NEVER go to my teachers for one on one help no matter how much I needed it. I’m too prideful to not just learn it on my own and try to figure my way through it. Which is a catch 22 for me because I’ll be so hard on myself for not understanding or being able to do something but I also won’t ask for help. I think a big part of it stems from worrying ( there’s that word again) that I’ll come off as stupid for not understanding how to do something. I also despise being the center of attention, I am actually the maid of honor in my best friends wedding and I’m already nervous for my speech when the wedding isn’t until June. Wow 3/3 dislikes match.
The Virgo woman is the ultimate combination of brains and beauty. She’s got organizational skills for days, not to mention highly developed characteristics and a dedicated work ethic – all of which ensures that the world will get to see her in action, putting all of her brilliance and talents to good use.
These are the women making stuff happen – they’re not just all talk. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, which makes for a passionately intellectual mind and a deeply creative streak. Being an earth sign, however, these ladies really shine when creating something tangible from their inspiration.
Virgoan gals may seem like shy and retiring personalities on the surface, but keep an eye out for the frenetic activity they’re creating behind the scenes – these go-getters are the ones to watch when it comes to big business and the arts, and they’re particularly adept when it comes to combining the two. Count on a Virgo woman to have multiple endeavors going at once, but somehow managing them all to the letter – between her devoted friendships, her impeccable taste, and her thriving businesses, a Virgo isn’t one to let things get messy or mess around.
How does she do it, you may ask? One clue is to examine her daily planner, which she is never seen without – it will be color-coded, with cute little stickers denoting her doctor and hair colorist appointments, her gym days where she may work out with a personal trainer, and her free time sessions. (Yes, relaxation is something she plans out ahead of time, too!) – Astrology.com
I found it very interesting to read about a Virgo woman because shocker I am one. I do agree with some of the things that were said. The last part about my planner being color coordinated, that was actually one of the tips I wrote in my post on How to stay organized and feel accomplished. While I did connect with some of the things that were said, I didn’t connect with everything. Perhaps it’s just because I’m still fairly young in the sense of a career but I haven’t really experienced how they described a Virgo woman to be in the work place. I will say thought that I do enjoy working by myself, which probably has to do with me being a Virgo. Customers always ask me if I mind working alone and I always respond that I enjoy it because I get to work on my own pace and in a way that I find most efficient. I think it’ll be really interesting to see as I get older how I change and whether I become more like the description or less like it.
Something not many people know about me is that I was born five weeks early, my due date was actually suppose to be October 7,1994. Had that been the day I was born I would have been a Libra instead of a Virgo. I thought it’d be fun to do a quick comparison, to see if being born prematurely had any affect on my personality. After doing a little reading on Libra’s I actually do feel like I sync up with some of their descriptions. The first line I read said “Intelligent, kind, and always willing to put others before themselves, Libras value harmony in all forms.” I would say that does describe me pretty well, but it depends on the person. Like I mentioned back when I was talking about my shyness I need to feel appreciated. That being said, if I know you’ll give me the same amount of love and effort that I’m giving you I will go to the ends of the earth of you time and time again. The website I found also stated that the imagination of a Libra is their biggest assets. My imagination runs wild, it always has. From the story lines I’d imagine while playing barbies at a young age to imagine how’d I’d act if I was the boss of a major company I’m constantly imagining this big life for myself.
To wrap up this never ending ramble about myself and zodiac signs, I learned a lot about myself and think I’ve earned my Virgo card for sure. There are parts of me that are in line with the description of a Libra but overall, I’m definitely a Virgo. Having done some research on my sign and other signs, I do think it plays a part in why we are the way we are. Ultimately, I believe if it wasn’t at least a little accurate why would people have spent so much time studying it? What’s your zodiac sign? Do you feel you match up with the description of it? Let me know down in the comments! Thanks for stopping by, until next time…
