Favorite Apps For Blogging

Hello! Welcome Back, this is my second week this month that I’m putting up more then one post…who am I??? lol. I’ve just been so inspired lately and over flowing with ideas that I can’t just keep it to one post a week. So here we are with a new post, one that I’m really excited about. I’ve never written a post giving out resources for blogging, not because I don’t want to help others, but because I didn’t feel I had anything new to offer. I’m positive 99% of you know about these apps but in the rare chance that someone doesn’t, I felt I needed to share this information. We all know social media is the largest part to blogging, that’s no secret. Whether it’s creating images, writing posts, or promoting our work…we are always using some type of software. Combine that, with almost all of us having a tiny computer in the form of a phone on us at all times, we do a lot of our work on our phones. Personally, I squeeze as much blog work as I can into my downtime at my full time job. Because of that, I’m constantly looking for and using different apps to make my blog and social media look the best it can. Today, I want to tell you guys about my favorite apps to use for blogging. All apps that I mention are Free to download but may offer some in-app purchases. Let’s jump into it!

WordPress App

So my first one is a no brainer, if your blog is through WordPress I recommend having the WordPress app. Like I said, I do a lot of blogging work on my phone, for example right now I’m writing this post on my Iphone with the WordPress App. It’s so convenient to be able to keep up with my blog without having to log onto a computer. The app is easy to follow and you have all the basic things you need right at your fingertips. Whether it’s writing a blogpost or replying to comments everything is easy to find and easy to use, which is crucial for someone like myself who isn’t tech savvy. If I didn’t have this app, I don’t think I’d be able to post as regularly as I do so for me it’s a must have.

Again, no brainer, one of my favorite aspects of blogging is the creativity that comes along with making images. For that reason, Canva is probably my favorite app for blogging. You can make all type of images, like Instagram posts, Blog images, or even Twitter and LinkedIn headers. Not only is it great for blogging it’s great small businesses, because you can make small Magazines, Cd covers and Brochures. Anyone and everyone could benefit from using Canva in my opinion. It gives you the ability to use your own photos or stock images, which I love. I don’t have a professional camera nor can I afford a photographer so when my personal photos don’t make the cut it’s helpful to have access to these stock images. ( Little side note: don’t be afraid to use stock images, I use them all the time. Just make sure you follow the requests of the photographer when reposting their photo.) Canva has hundreds of free templets and design elements, with as many incredible free options as they have I don’t feel you need to pay for a membership with them.

This is a new app for me, like I found it earlier this week but I’m already in love with it. If you don’t follow me on Instagram (pssst. click the word Instagram and follow me please) you probably haven’t noticed that I have recently upped my instagram story game. Before, I used canva and while I love canva for instagram stories Over is so much better. It has a bunch of templets for instagram stories, some even including video which I though was SO cool. They have free templets and ones that you have to have a Pro membership for, which costs 100 dollars per year. I’ve only used the free ones but if Instagram is a big platform for you & stories are really important to you, and you have the means to pay for the membership I think it’s a great idea.

Besides your standard social media apps, like Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook these are my favorite apps to use for blogging. Something I love about blogging is that there are no rules, you do and use what works for you. These apps work best for me and I fully recommend them, they are all easy to use, and add professionalism to your blog and social media platforms.

Do you use these apps? Is there any apps that you love that I haven’t mentioned here? Let me know down in the comments, I love hearing from you guys. Thanks for stopping by, until next time…

    1. yes great options!! I have an app called afterlight that i’ve used for years before i started blogging to edit and flip photos, apps can be so handy ☺️☺️

      1. VSCO is the one. I don’t know a blogger that doesn’t have it haha x

  2. I love these types of posts. I need to check out the Over app! I’m trying to up my IG game right now and I’m looking for recommendations. One of my favourite apps for blogging is Buffer! So good when you need to schedule tweets.

Canva is amazing, isn’t it! I love playing around on it and creating things. It makes it nice and easy but also so fun 🙂 I hadn’t heard of ‘Over’ before – I was looking at something similar earlier, but I can’t remember what it’s called now. I really like the idea of it – will have to look at this one and see what I can do! Thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. thank you for reading! I hope the Over app works well for you xx

  4. I love the WordPress app and it’s definitely crucial to be using if you’re on the platform! I can’t say I do all that much blogging from my phone but I definitely like to check my stats and comments throughout the day whilst away from my computer 🙂 Canva is my absolute favourite! I can’t tell you the times I’ve used it for headers, invitations, media kits, logos, everything!! It’s such an incredible tool and I can’t believe it took me so long to come across. I’ve never heard of over actually but I’ll definitely be downloading it now!!

    1. I honestly couldn’t agree more with everything you said. It’s so nice to be able to check your stats during the day, especially towards the end of the month you can see how far you are from either your goal or a new highest and then give that last push of promotion if needed x

  7. Great tips! I’ve never heard of over before but I’ll look into it. I love checking my comments throughout the day on the WordPress app. I love canva too but I find it so difficult to use on my phone?! x

    1. For me, when using the canva app it depends on my wifi connection. sometimes it works great other times it lags like no other! Totally agree about checking comments, it’s so much easier to reply to them on the app in my opinion xx

  8. Love posts like these, they’re so handy! I don’t use many apps to be fair, I should probably look into them more! I’ve only just started using canva.

    Chloe xx

    1. took me a little while to get on the app train as well, makes things much easier when you’re on the go x

    Hi Michelle!
Never heard of Over until now so thank you for the heads up on that one. If I start to use Instagram stories more, I will look into using Over thanks to you.

Canva is very good although I actually think it is somewhat limited on the free options but like you say, there’s enough there really to get by without a subscription being needed. Apps are definitely the way to go when it comes to keeping up to date with blog related stuff and managing things on the go.

    1. In some aspects they do lack on free options, templates they don’t lack on but some little elements I think they could add some more free options. I’d be lost without my apps xx

  14. Here I am… not knowing a Canva app even EXISTED! I love Canva but I only use it on my laptop because obviously I didn’t know there was an app version. I’d be lost without my WordPress app! xxx

    1. really recommend checking out the app. I didn’t realize it existed until one day it wasn’t working on my computer but I really wanted to get a post up so checked the app store and sure enough they had one x

  15. I dont use the canva app, i use the website instead! but my main apps for blogging are wordpress, twitter and gmail!

    1. all great apps I being able to switch back and forth between computer and iphone so I always have my stuff with me

  16. I use canva all the time for creating media kits and photo edits! Had no idea about the app though, will literally be downloading it right now x
