Hello! Welcome Back! Can you believe we are already at the end of October!? It feels like it should have just started, it’s crazy. Next thing you know it’s gonna be Valentines day and the ground is gonna be covered in snow. Okay maybe I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but you get my point. With it being the end of the month, it’s the perfect time for me to do my October Favorites. I have always enjoyed doing Monthly Favorites post, it’s a great way to look back on everything I’ve loved during the month and do mini reviews on multiple products all in one place. I haven’t done one in a while, but I’ve tried some new stuff this month that I just HAD to share with you guys. So without wasting too much time, let’s get into what I have been loving in the month of October!
Shade: 01 OPAL
The first product I want to tell you guys about is this new foundation I’ve found by Bare Minerals. This isn’t a new product to their line and honestly I could have tried it at any point in the last two years, since I sell it almost everyday! We sell Bare Minerals at the store I work at and I’ve heard great things about this for so long. I overlooked it because I knew it didn’t give much coverage. It’s not suppose to, it’s a tinted gel cream so I would say it has a little more coverage then a BB cream. It’s really meant to just even everything out, for that reason alone I thought for so long that I wouldn’t like it. I’ve never liked full coverage but medium coverage like the Too Faced Born This Way was perfect for me. However, as I’m getting older and taking better care of my skin I have realized I do enjoy a light coverage foundation. This is the only foundation I’ve worn for the last three weeks, it gives a healthy dewy look to the skin which is great as the air becomes drier. It has SPF 30 in it, which is another plus. I honestly don’t have one bad thing to say about this product. It’s 30.00 USD but, that price could vary depending on where you purchase it, also you get 1.18 fl oz which it’s a little more than the standard in foundations. If you are looking for something to not add much coverage but just even out your skin tone, highly recommend this.
I’ve had a bit of a love affair with Bare Minerals this month. I’ve not tried many things from their line but everything I have tried I’ve loved. I’m a big fan of concealer, I have always loved trying new ones and if I could only have a few products for the rest of my life, concealer would be one of them. This concealer is INCREDIBLE. I love a liquidy concealer, which this would fall under since it’s a serum concealer. I know saying it’s liquidy could give a bad impression but honestly there’s no other way to describe the consistency of this product. Like the last product it gives your under eyes a nice dewy hydrated look, which is essential for me. I don’t know anyone who wants their under eyes to look dry lol. It has decent coverage, it’s not full by any means but definitely a medium coverage. Which again, is something I prefer because as I get older the full coverage concealers just crease under my eyes. I use a beauty sponge to blend out all my liquid products and this blends out like a dream. It doesn’t cling to anything and also creates a nice base on my eyelid for whatever i’m planning to do that day. You get 0.20 fl oz which doesn’t sound like a lot, but you don’t need to use a whole lot at once. I believe the pigment is strong on this product so a little will go a long way.
Dior Backstage Contour Palette & Highlight Palette
Before I get into this one, I know it’s Dior and that sounds really bougie but these products we birthday presents. These palettes are 45 dollars and it is smaller then I expect but even still, I think they are so worth the money. First i’ll start with the contour palette, I’m white as paper which makes it nearly impossible to find contour shades that work. They are either to dark or have this weird grey undertone and things just end up looking messy and muddy. However, the shade light contour in this palette has changed my life. It’s just the right amount of a cool tone shade, that it creates a shadow under your cheekbone without over doing it. Then the shade deep contour, is a great shade for me to lightly bronze up the rest of my face. I do have to use a light hand or else it could be too dark. If I do happen to go heavy on my bronzer, if I take a duo fiber brush it blends out effortlessly. I don’t use either highlight shade because I like a really intense glossy highlight but if you like something subtle these would be great for you. Now, onto my pride and joy the highlight palette. I have gotten so much use out of the highlight palette, whether it’s using them as highlighters, blush toppers or eyeshadows I have used this palette almost every day for the past two months. The shades are intense without looking glittery. What I really like is that the gold works on my fair skin. I do prefer a warmer highlight, like a peachy gold or light gold because I feel it compliments my eye color but far to often gold highlights are to dark and just look like a yellow strip on my face. Only complaint is I wish the pan sizes were a little bigger on these products. If you want to treat yourself, I really don’t think you can go wrong with anything from this collection from Dior however my number 1 pick would be the highlight palette.
I love trying new skincare and something I have recently learned about my skin is that it really loves chemical exfoliators. It especially loves lactic acid, so I have been on the hunt for products with lactic acid that didn’t break my bank account. I had a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment and my skin was obsessed with it but, a 1 oz bottle of this product costs as much as my student loan so that won’t be joining my collection anytime soon. Which is okay because I think I have found a winner with these pads. They are so convenient and easy to use while providing such benefits for your skin. It is going to tone, exfoliate and even brighten your skin and all you have to do is wipe a little pad over your face. My favorite thing about First Aid Beauty is that it’s effective but also suitable for sensitive skin types. I have been using these pads every morning and night and I’ve been in love with my skin. It’s part of why I feel comfortable using my light coverage foundation I mentioned up above.
One drawback of my job is I get hooked on expensive hair products! Bumble and Bumble is not a cheap brand, but if you want to treat yourself I really do recommend this line. I have a few sample packets of the thickening shampoo and conditioner because I don’t like recommending something to my customers without having tried it. If you have fine hair, you need these products. Well at least the shampoo, it’s the only shampoo that I’ve used where I can actually feel my hair becoming thicker. I only wash my hair about twice a week, so when I do I want something that is really going to bring my hair back to life because it ends up being really flat by then. Full disclosure I only have a picture of the conditioner because I was silly and used up my last shampoo sample before taking photos for this post *eye roll*
New Hair Color
Okay so this is a new favorite and just a chance for me to rave about my new hair some more because I’m obsessed with it. Before my hair appointment I had a fairly light blonde balyage, and I was itching for a change but wasn’t ready to give up the blonde. I decided to go darker at my roots, pull some low-lights through and also add in some cooler pieces of blonde. I’m not afraid to change my hair up, but this is possibly my hair “color” I’ve ever done. I also decided to cut it a bit shorter, which again I’m loving. It’s hard for me to explain the jump in confidence I have when I get my hair done. It’s why I don’t mind spending the money to get it done. It’s not cheap but, it makes me feel incredible about myself and for me that has no price tag. Already thinking about going fully brunette the next time I go, what do you guys think?
Those are the things I have been loving in the month of October, and honestly I forgot how much I love writing about beauty products! I love that I have this space to talk about all difference aspects of life and things I enjoy. What have you been loving this month, let me know in the comments! I love hearing from you guys. I hope you all have a fun & safe Halloween. Thanks for stopping by.. until next time
