Beauty Regimen Series- Current Skincare Routine

Hey guys! Hope you’re all doing well! I wanted to start a 3 part series here on my blog of, my beauty regimen. It will include my skincare routine, everyday makeup routine and my hair care routine. Each step of my beauty regimen is a form of self-care for me so I take it very seriously.

Today I wanted to share with you my current skincare routine. I’m about to turn 25 at the end of the summer so it’s important to me that I take good care of my skin, in hopes of delaying the aging process. I’ve been using all of these products for a while so I know they are actually affective.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of factors that can cause a product to work differently from one person to the next. Things like, medication, climate and age can affect your skin which in turn will affect the products you use. Okay, I’ll stop rambling and get into what you’re all here for.

My Skin Type

In order to understand better why I use certain products I thought it would be helpful to explain my skin type. I use to believe my skin was dry, because in some places it is. It’s also oily in other places which has lead me to the realization that I have combination skin. Now that it’s getting warmer out, my skin will tend to lean more towards the oily side but I without a doubt still have a couple dry spots (like the side of my nose). My skin isn’t really sensitive so I don’t typically shy away from much when it comes to skincare.

Morning Skincare Routine

My morning skincare routine is actually fairly simple. I use about three products in the morning. Since I don’t sleep with makeup on (you shouldn’t either, ever. like seriously EVER) my skin is already fairly clean from the evening before. I will go in with Bioderma on a Shiseido cotton square to remove any sweat, oil, drool or whatever could have landed on my face while I was sleeping. I just ran out of both products, which is why they’re not pictured here but I have linked every product I’ll be mentioning. *not an affiliate link.

Next I go in with my moisturizer and eye cream. I use the Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Gel Moisturizer as my day time moisturizer. Gel moisturizers are my favorite for daytime, they hydrate your face enough without being heavy under makeup. I like that this product has Vitamin C in it, it helps wake me and my skin up in the morning with its fresh citrus scent.

The I go in with the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff (yes, that’s it’s full name…it’s a mouth full.) What I enjoy about this product is the slight peachy tint it has. Peach/Orange is going to help color correct the darkness we tend to get under our eyes.

Finally, for the morning I use my rose quartz roller to help wake ensure my products have fully sunken into my skin. Then I go into my makeup routine, which I’ll be posting next week.

Morning Skincare

Night Time Skincare

My night time skincare routine is a bit more complex and something I take more serious than the morning. The reason for that is because the products have more time to work without things like makeup or environmental elements interfering.

First, I’ll go in with my cleansers and remove my makeup. It’s very important to me that I remove every stitch of makeup so, I always double cleanse each night. I started doing this method about three months ago and it massively improved my skin. The first cleanser I go in with is the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip, this is what I use to remove 90% of my makeup. I can’t stand when face cleansers sting your eye so when I find one that doesn’t, I stick with it. I then go in with the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Cleanser. This cleanser does kind of sting my eyes, which is why I use it as my second cleanser. It’s great at removing any left over residue.

Cleansers

After I cleanse, I’ll go in with my toner and serum. I’m currently using the Lush Eau Roma Water as my toner. This product is really great at calming your skin and replenishing some moisture that cleansing may have stripped. It also helps reduce redness due to it’s calming properties. Then, I go in with my serums. I switch between two depending on what I feel my skin needs. My absolute favorite serum is Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. This is a lactic acid product, which is great for chemical exfoliation. The other serum I’ll use is the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydrating Serum. With having combination skin, I sometimes feel dryer than usual and my skin will drink this product right up. It’s also great at keeping the skin looking youthful.

Skincare Serums

My final step in night time skincare is a overnight sleeping mask. I use this in place of a moisturizer and you’ll understand why in just a moment. I alternate between two sleeping masks both by Glow Recipe. My most used one is the Glow Recipe Avocado Sleeping Mask. This product is absolutely incredible. It feels like a thick body butter but for your face. My skin feels so incredibly hydrated and plump when I wake up the next morning. I will typically use this mask about 4-5 times a week. On the nights I’m not using the Avocado Mask, I am using the Glow Recipe Watermelon & AHA Glow Sleeping Mask. This mask smells like a watermelon jolly rancher and helps resurface the skin leaving behind a glowing complexion.

Final Skincare Tips

My skin is something I’m usually pretty happy with, and that’s thanks to these products. However, there are also a few other factors that contribute to my skin and I wanted to share those with you before I wrap this up.

First, drink water. No matter how many moisturizers you use, the best way to hydrate your skin is by hydrating the inside of your body with water. I try to drink at the very least two liters of water a day. My next tip is to limit your time in the sun & tanning bed. The sun can be very damaging to the skin, so if you do go out make sure you wear your SPF. There are plenty of ways you can get a tan without having to harm your skin. At home dermaplaning has also helped my skin a lot, I did an update post a couple weeks ago that will answer all your questions about dermaplaning.

That wraps up my skincare routine, have you used any of these products before? What’s your holy grail skincare product? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing from you guys! Thanks for stopping by, until next time…

Great post! We use a lot of the same products. I really want to try the Sunday Riley good genes thing, I have heard great things!

    1. it’s great! it’s really expensive so if you can get it in a set to try it that’s what i recommend. I have yet to buy a full size because of the price tag lol!

  2. This sounds like a really good routine! Can you still use overnight face masks if you don’t sleep on your back? I envisage really gross pillow sheets when I wake up as I have to sleep on my side with my face half in the pillow, ha! Also what does the rose quartz roller do? I’ve heard of them before but never used one.

    1. you absolutely can use an overnight mask if you don’t sleep on your back, i don’t sleep on my back either. i would recommend maybe doing the mask 15-20 minutes before you plan on putting your head on the pillow, that way the mask has time to soak in and that sticky feeling is pretty much gone. the rose quartz roller (or any roller really) helped stimulate the cells in your face which will help with collagen production, and also it just feels really nice lol xx

      1. Oh that’s a good idea! I’ll try both of those then 😊

  3. I haven’t actually tried any of these products before, but I have seen origins advertised a lot and wanted to try some of their products but the pricing sometimes puts me off. Thank you for sharing these products, it’s great to learn about other brands. Xx

    1. the pricing is high i agree, if you can get it in a gift set that’s the best value for money. i’ve used it every day since the beginning of april and have only used about 1/4 of the product so it does last a while xx

      1. Ah okay. I’ll have a hunt for some gift sets! Oh okay, I will have to maybe invest once I have finished the products I am currently using. Thanks for the tip hun xx

  4. All of the sleeping masks sound great! I love an overnight mask. I think we have quite similar routines in terms of kind of products, but I haven’t tried many of these specific brands. The fact you use Good Genes has left me slightly heartbroken because they aren’t legally allowed to sell the lactic version in the UK anymore (something to do with acid strength) and we have a glycolic version now but my sensitive skin hates glycolic (and loves lactic). Kinda jealous, your routine sounds great! x

    1. oh wow that’s such a shame! i think the ordinary has a lactic acid serum, maybe you could try that if you haven’t yet! xx

  5. This is a great and informational post, with lots of pointers I’ll be taking away and saving for later. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing!

    1. thank you! i really appreciate that♥️

  6. Such a great read! How do you motivate yourself to stick through the routine? I know its too easy for me to skip most of my routine unless I was wearing makeup that day.

    1. it’s not always easy for me to do this routine every night but since i wear makeup nearly everyday due to working in a beauty store that certainly helps. i know it’ll make me feel better about myself if i do my routine so that also helps xx

  7. I love reading about other people’s skincare routines. I don’t really have one at the moment – I’ll admit I’m seriously slacking!

    1. i didn’t have one for a while either, i would have little samples of products and then once i realized they actually helped i invested in the full size and created my own routine

  8. Great post. The earliest you start on your skincare regimen the better your skin will look with aging. I started at 16 and happy I did.

    1. absolutely agree! i didn’t have a set routine until a few years back but i always took my makeup off before bed and i’m really glad i did x

  9. Thanks for sharing this! Many of the products I’ve never heard of before and seem like they could work for me too. I don’t have a skincare routine but loved reading yours!
