Favorite Podcasts For Young Adult Woman

Hey guys! Hope you’re doing well! So it’s no secret that I really love podcasts. At least I don’t think it’s a secret. If it is then, hello my name is Michelle and I love podcasts. I especially love advice podcasts. Being in my early twenties (I turn 25 in two weeks and I’m holding onto the “early twenties” phrase as long as possible.) As I was saying, being in my early twenties I feel like I’m always searching for advice. Either to learn more or to just hear that people are going through the same stuff I am.

In my last post about maintaining friendships in your 20s, I mentioned that your 20s can be a really lonely time. Podcasts make me feel less alone because the people I listen to are either older than me and have come out the other end or they’re currently going through the same stuff I am. It’s comforting to get a different outlook or perspective from the host and guests. So today, I thought it would be nice to share my favorite podcasts with you.

Listening to Podcasts

Don’t Blame Me

Here’s my shameless plug for the day, if you aren’t subscribed to my newsletter (sign up down below) than you wouldn’t know that I spoke about this podcast there. Don’t Blame Me is an advice podcast by Meghan Rienks. I found Meghan years ago on youtube, and I fell in love with her. She’s extremely relatable and does a great job at making you feel like you’re with one of your best friends.

The premise of the podcast is that people call in and leave a voicemail asking about whatever they want advice on. Then Meghan and any guests she has on the show, give you advice. The best part is the advice isn’t given in a condescending way, usually pretty blunt but never condescending.

On The Line

This is another laid back advice type podcast. On The Line is hosted by Estée Lalonde, another person I found on youtube years back. What I love about her podcast is the diversity in topics. She’s had guests talk about sex, CBD, mental health, beauty/fashion and so many other things.

An over arching theme that you’ll find with the podcasts I listen to is female empowerment. I think it’s important as a young woman to do what I can to surround myself with as much female empowerment possible. I really enjoy that these podcasts have a sleepover with your girlfriends feel to them.

Podcasts

God is Grey

Now this podcast is a Christian podcast, but not your typical Christian podcast. God is Grey is centered around having deep intellectual conversations about real life things, but with Christianity being thrown into the mix. I find it to be a great podcast to listen to when you’re discovering your faith. Joining a religion or learning more about it can be overwhelming but the host Brenda Davies makes you feel comfortable.

What I really enjoy about this podcast is that while Brenda is strong in her faith, she understands that she has no place to judge. The final judgement call comes down to Jesus, and all we can do as his disciples is spread is love. As humans Brenda understands that there are grey moments in our faith, that can cause problems. She speaks to and welcomes people to help teach and share their story without harsh judgments

Made Of Magic

This podcast was formally known as The Girl Kind Podcast, which I have done a couple posts on. This podcast, is what really sucked me into this whole world of podcasting. Gosh, say podcast one more time Michelle! The host Stephanie Dawn Elizabeth, is one of the most encouraging woman I’ve come across.

This podcast is all about all about the magic that is in all of us. As woman we’re taught about these little boxes that were meant to fit it. Not be to much of this, to much of that and essentially limiting ourselves. Stephanie speaks about doing the inner work needed to break out of that thought process and taking everything the world has for you. The conversations she and her guests have are real, raw conversations about finding yourself and creating a life you love.
